Anticipatory pet grief is the sorrow experienced before the actual loss of a beloved animal companion. It often begins when a pet is diagnosed with a terminal illness, shows signs of aging, or starts to decline in health. While the pet is still physically present, their caregiver may already be mourning the inevitable goodbye.
This form of grief can be deeply emotional and complex. Feelings of sadness, anxiety, guilt, or helplessness are common, as well as physical symptoms like fatigue, changes in sleep, and difficulty focusing. Caregivers may struggle with conflicting emotions—cherishing precious moments while also dreading the loss ahead.
Acknowledging anticipatory grief is important. It’s a natural response to loving deeply and facing the reality of change. During this time, it can help to create comforting routines, capture memories, and seek support from friends, counselors, or pet loss groups.
Anticipatory grief gives us a chance to say goodbye with love, presence, and intention—and to honor the bond we share with our animals while they are still with us.
We will NOT be hosting monthly support groups. We will be offering 5 week program in the near future. Dates/times will be announced in the upcoming months.

Grief Coaching offers compassionate, forward-focused support for those navigating loss. Unlike therapy, it does not diagnose or treat mental health conditions, but instead helps individuals process emotions, set gentle goals, and find meaning after loss. Whether you are grieving a pet, a person, or a life change, grief coaching provides a safe space to be heard, validated, and guided toward healing—at your own pace.
$133 (75min session) NOTE: these are 1:1 session on zoom.
