As an avid animal lover and pet parent, I understand the deep impact that animals
have on our lives and the connections we make with these special beings. Our pets
are there for us through life's celebrations, difficulties, and daily
routines. Unfortunately, there is often little acknowledgement of the important role
that pets play in our lives.
As animal caregivers we experience several challenges and emotions connected to
our animals' health and wellness. While many therapists are equipped to support
those grieving the loss of a pet or other challenges related to animal caregiving, you
may choose to face these challenges in a space that is specifically dedicated to pet
loss and veterinary wellness.
After 10+ years in the human healthcare field, I’ve shifted my practice to focus on
the animal-human bond and the inevitable losses and challenges within this
relationship. Caring for animals and saying goodbye present unique challenges. It is
an honour to walk alongside you in this journey.

Whether you’ve experienced pet loss through sudden death, long-term illness, old age, disappearance, theft, loss of custody, relinquishment, or any other event, the loss can send our emotions spinning. If or when we do not feel seen, heard, and acknowledged in our grief, we end up feeling as if our pain is dismissed or minimized. This experience is inclusive to anticipatory grief whereby you may find yourself struggling to live out your
animal’s final days mindfully, constantly anticipating the end. I can provide the space to unpack what’s coming up and help you prepare for their final days/weeks/months.
My role can involve showing up with curiosity, bearing witness to the pain that is losing your beloved animal, and helping with the transition from a relationship of presence to relationship of memory. Our time can be a chance to reflect on how this experience has changed who you are and explore what steps might be useful in finding ways to live with grief and joy simultaneously.
With over 16 years’ experience in the Social Work industry, I come equipped with a Master of Social Work, as well as related training in animal bereavement, grief and loss,
anxious grief, and traumatic grief.
It would be a privilege to be entrusted with your story and cherished relationship.
